Our therapists bring decades of combined clinical experience alongside a commitment to cultural humility, trauma-informed care, and the kind of radical warmth that makes healing possible.

Therapy for every
chapter of your life.

Whether you're navigating anxiety, grief, identity, or simply a season of not feeling like yourself — we have a path forward, together.

We believe in the
power of showing
up, fully.

Solace Collective is a practice built on presence, warmth, and the deep conviction that healing is not only possible — it is your birthright.

Dr. Amara Ellis

Founder & Lead Therapist

Born from a personal
search for solace.

Dr. Amara Ellis founded Solace Collective in 2012 after years of working in community mental health and recognizing a gap: women needed therapy that was not just clinically sound, but deeply human.

She built a practice where no two sessions feel the same — because no two people are. Today, Solace Collective is home to a team of six specialized therapists who share Amara's core vision.

We lead every session, every interaction, and every policy decision with deep and genuine care for the humans we serve.

Clinical Excellence

Our methods are grounded in research. We continuously learn so our clients benefit from the best the field has to offer.

Cultural Humility

Identity is complex. We do ongoing work to ensure our practice is antiracist, LGBTQ+ affirming, and accessible.

Genuine Partnership

We're not here to advise you from on high. We walk beside you — and we adapt to what you need at every turn.

Therapy that grows
with you at every stage.

Life doesn't stay the same — and neither should your care. Our approach is flexible, collaborative, and always centered on your evolving needs.

The philosophy
that holds everything.

Trauma-Informed, Always

Every clinician on our team is trained in trauma-informed care. This means we never push, we always explain, and we understand that what looks like resistance is often wisdom.

Culturally Responsive Practice

We actively do anti-oppression work, seek ongoing education, and ensure our therapeutic language reflects the full diversity of human experience — including yours.

Collaborative, Not Prescriptive

You are the expert on your own life. Our job is to bring curiosity, skill, and support — not to tell you who to be or how to feel.

Honoring the Body

We recognize that mental health lives in the body as much as the mind. Our approach always makes room for sensation, breath, and somatic awareness.

Everything you want
to know before reaching out.

What happens in the free consultation?

+

It's a 20-minute phone call — casual, warm, and completely pressure-free. You share a little about what's bringing you in, we answer your questions, and we get a sense of whether we're the right fit. No clinical assessments. No commitments.

How do I know which therapist is right for me?

+

After your intake form, we personally review your needs and make a thoughtful match recommendation. You're always welcome to meet with more than one therapist before deciding. What matters most is that you feel safe and understood.

Do you accept insurance?

+

We're in-network with Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, and Optum. For all other insurance, we provide monthly superbills so you can seek out-of-network reimbursement. We also offer sliding scale fees — please ask.

How long does therapy usually take?

+

This varies enormously based on your goals and history. Some clients find significant relief in 3–6 months; others work with us for years. We set goals together and check in regularly to make sure the work is meeting your needs.

Is telehealth as effective as in-person therapy?

+

Research consistently shows telehealth is equally effective for most concerns. Our secure video platform is easy to use and HIPAA-compliant. Many of our clients prefer it for the convenience — and for the comfort of being in their own space.

You don't have to have
it figured out to reach out.

So many of our clients have told us that they almost didn't call. That they thought they weren't "bad enough" to need therapy, or that they didn't want to be a bother.

You are not a bother. You are someone who deserves care — and we genuinely cannot wait to meet you.
